Kanto Tactics Guide Play the game ↗

How these numbers are made

Kanto Tactics runs entirely in your browser, so its rules ship with the game: the Pokémon, their stats at each star, abilities, synergy thresholds, items, shop odds and every Campaign trainer's team are in its code. This site reads them from the game build of October 17, 2026 and shows them as they are.

The win rates come from the game's own battle engine, run outside the browser. The same engine decides every fight you play, so a simulated fight between two boards plays out exactly like it would in the game with the same random seed.

Comps

We generated 3,000 random level-8 boards built around a type, let them fight each other, then improved the best ones step by step (swap a Pokémon, change an item, move the carry) and kept every change that won more against the current strongest boards. After several rounds, the 251 best boards played a full round robin, and we kept the best board of each style. 5,416,640 fights in total.

We ran two searches. Reroll boards: 7 Pokémon (level 7), up to three 1–2 cost Pokémon at 3★, the rest at 2★ (4-costs at 1★). Level-8 boards: 8 Pokémon, 1–3 cost at 2★, up to two 4-costs at 2★, at most one 5-cost at 1★, no 3★. Every board carries 6 completed items. Level-8 boards were ranked only against other level-8 boards, because a finished reroll board beats almost all of them. Positioning is simple: melee Pokémon in the front row with tanks in the middle, ranged Pokémon in the back row with the carry in a corner, assassins in the back corners. Real games have more variety, and a better position can beat these numbers.

Tier list

3,000 random level-8 teams each played 40 fights against other random teams. A Pokémon's number is the share of fights won by the teams that fielded it.

What this site is

An unofficial fan guide. Kanto Tactics is made by Einoow and you can play it for free at einoow.com/kanto-tactics. Pokémon names and images belong to Nintendo, Creatures and GAME FREAK; sprites come from the PokeAPI and pokesprite projects, trainer sprites from Pokémon Showdown. When the game updates, we re-read the data and run the fights again.
